Orange Business Coral Reef

Through a pluriannual partnership, we aim at restoring more than 5,000sqm of damaged coral reef throughout the world. The first coral nurseries (1500m2) are located in the Coral Triangle, in Malaysia.

Thanks to the commitment of Orange Business, other internal regions like AME and MEA are also stepping up to sponsor their own coral reefs, propelling this movement forward.

Underwater research station

To assess the impacts of our program, we collect quantitative data on marine life (fish, invertebrates, sharks, turtles, …) on a monthly basis on the restored coral reefs.

To improve our scientific monitoring process, we are developing an underwater research station together with Orange Business and Yucca Lab.

Using 360° images analyzed on the cloud with an AI algorithm, the monitoring station will improve the data accuracy on biodiversity and enable us to access 24/7 live images and valuable data. It will enable us to scale our impacts significantly.

Species monitored

Bio-indicating species of invertebrates

These species of invertebrates filter water, recycle nutrients and are ecosystem engineers of coral reefs.

Sea Urchin

These species of fish contribute to the health of coral ecosystems by removing algae from corals, eating dead corals and regulating pest populations.

Endangered & rare species

Endangered and rare species are excellent indicators of the health of the coral reef. These charismatic animals are always a good sign when they are around.
